Recreation
The City of Newton Parks & Recreation Department was organized in May 1948 to serve the community with year round recreational activities.
The Departments Resources are channeled through three main areas:
Programs
Provides a variety of instructional classes, special events, swimming pool, and (7) major organized athletic activities.
Buildings & Grounds
Mainatains facilities indoor & outdoor; (6) parks, a swimming pool, greenways trail, (2) centers, a community building, city hall, historic newton depot, police complex, old water plant, a living tree memorial program, downtown planter boxes & hanging baskets.
Cemeteries
City maintains (3) cemeteries, Eastview, Central & Southside.
